On the evening of April 10, Unitree released a new video featuring its humanoid robot G1 engaged in a boxing demonstration. The video showcases the G1 robot punching a stationary target—a freestanding punching bag—as well as sparring with a human and another G1 unit.
During the sparring session with a human opponent, the G1 robot was repeatedly knocked down due to limitations in reaction speed, striking precision, and force. However, the robot managed to stand back up in approximately four seconds each time, demonstrating its resilience and dynamic balance capabilities.
At the end of the video, Unitree announced that, for safety reasons, only certain relatively safe functions of the G1 would be gradually unlocked via OTA updates for customers. The company also revealed plans to launch live robot combat streaming within the next month.
