Huawei HarmonyOS 5.1 Unveiled with Star River Satellite Communication in Zunjie S800

At today’s HarmonyOS Zunjie S800 technical launch, Huawei unveiled its new Star River Satellite Communication technology, which will debut in the Zunjie S800. This vehicle is equipped with ultra-wide-angle satellite communication featuring a 160°beam width, allowing a 50% faster satellite connection and reducing call setup time by 20% compared to traditional in-car satellite communications.

One of the highlights of the presentation was the first public exposure of HarmonyOS 5.1, which will support the distributed in-car satellite communication system on the Zunjie S800. This new system allows smartphones to utilize the car’s satellite communication capabilities.

Huawei Star River Communication also supports ground-based communication and allows the satellite communication feature to be shared with other devices such as smartphones and tablets. Notably, it claims to maintain satellite communication up to 30 meters away from the vehicle. The system includes features such as smart network selection, dual SIM dual standby, multi-network connection, and weak network acceleration, ensuring continuous navigation without interruption. In the absence of a signal, the car can automatically initiate a satellite phone call to request rescue, offering an innovative “self-reporting” function in emergencies.
