Ganfeng Lithium’s Subsidiary Launches Smart All-Terrain Robot Battery Solution

Ganfeng Electronics, a subsidiary of Ganfeng Lithium, has officially unveiled its intelligent battery solution for all-terrain robots, positioning itself as a power supply partner for next-generation robotics.

The battery features a high-energy 72V/324Wh cell with a 7C discharge rate and over 3 hours of runtime. With a lightweight structural design and a self-developed BMS (Battery Management System), the solution effectively reduces robotic load while enhancing mobility, delivering stable power output even in complex terrains. Leveraging Ganfeng Lithium’s vertically integrated lithium ecosystem and high-quality battery supply, the solution aims to accelerate multi-scenario adoption across the robotics industry.

High Energy Meets High Safety to Power Robotics with Freedom

“When energy density and safety barriers are broken, robots can finally cut the cords,” the company said. Robotic applications often involve complex scenarios, demanding batteries with both high energy density and high discharge rates, along with exceptional safety and long service life.

According to the company, the newly launched battery uses high energy density cells, achieving an impressive 7C discharge capability and supporting up to 15 km of travel per charge. The lightweight structural design and pull-tab configuration reduce weight, enhance agility, and ensure consistent performance during mountain climbs, platform leaps, and shallow water operations. The battery also supports both direct charging and swappable modules, catering to diverse application needs such as emergency response and industrial inspection.

In terms of safety, the battery adopts a three-dimensional protection system—comprising structural, electrochemical, and intelligent monitoring safeguards. Structurally, it features a high-strength plastic-steel housing and IP67 waterproof sealing with reinforced latching mechanisms to resist physical shocks and environmental exposure. For electrochemical safety, a dedicated float charge protection module extends battery life. On the monitoring front, five NTC precision sensors continuously track cell and BMS temperatures, ensuring stable operation from -20°C to 55°C and significantly lowering the risk of failure.

Intelligent BMS Unlocks Full Robotic Potential

From AGVs to AMRs and wearable tech, Ganfeng’s extensive experience and BMS data analytics have enabled the development of a tailor-made battery management solution specifically for all-terrain robots. Whether it’s long patrols, heavy-duty tasks, human-robot collaboration, or industrial automation, the system ensures seamless compatibility.

The proprietary BMS, serving as the “brain” of the robot’s power system, ensures both energy balance and data safety. Ganfeng’s R&D team was deeply involved in algorithm design and cell control, ensuring tight integration between battery and robot. The system achieves a SOC estimation accuracy within 3-5%, with real-time data collection every 200 milliseconds. During extended operations, the robot can autonomously return for charging, preventing “signal loss” due to power depletion in outdoor environments.

The battery solution has passed key certifications including UL1642 and IEC62133. Ganfeng Electronics’ R&D and production team has already partnered with several domestic robot manufacturers and offers customized battery pack solutions, with a daily production capacity of 600 units.

Building a New Robotic Battery Ecosystem

According to GGII, the global compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for lithium batteries used in embodied intelligent robots is projected to exceed 100% from 2025 to 2030, with the market expected to surpass 100 GWh by 2030. The scale of the robotics market is anticipated to outpace both the automotive and 3C industries, with the power system emerging as a key battlefield in this transformation.

Ganfeng is actively pursuing technical innovations in robot power systems and is building a closed-loop supply chain from lithium mining to solid-state batteries. The company currently possesses capabilities in key areas such as electrolyte materials, electrolytes, lithium metal anodes, cells, and battery systems. In the future, high-density, high-safety, wide-temperature solid-state batteries are expected to become the ultimate solution for robotic energy needs.

As emerging industries spark new revolutions, advancements in AI provide robots with their “brain,” while evolving battery technologies serve as the “heart.” With major players entering the arena and the ecosystem maturing, these next-gen power solutions will offer more advanced, reliable options—driving the robotics industry toward a comprehensive, self-sustaining innovation and production chain.
