(March 18, 2025, Beijing) – GAC Group has officially announced the establishment of Huawang Auto Technology (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Huawang Auto”), a wholly-owned subsidiary. As the strategic vehicle for deepening cooperation between GAC and Huawei, Huawang Auto will integrate both parties’ expertise in intelligent automotive ecosystems, high-end brand development, and technology R&D to drive forward the GH Project. This marks a significant step in GAC’s expansion into the smart and high-end vehicle sector.
Huawang Auto Established: GH Project Moves Forward
In January 2025, GAC Group’s board approved the GH Project, planning to invest in a new company to strengthen collaboration with Huawei. Huawang Auto will serve as the project’s execution body with a registered capital of 1.5 billion RMB. Its operations will cover new energy vehicle (NEV) development and manufacturing, component production, intelligent driving system development, and vehicle sales.
The company will leverage GAC’s extensive experience in vehicle manufacturing alongside Huawei’s cutting-edge smart technologies. It will align with Huawei’s Integrated Product Development (IPD) and Integrated Product Marketing & Sales (IPMS) frameworks, redefining the entire process from product design and R&D to marketing and services. According to the plan, the first vehicle under this collaboration will target the high-end intelligent NEV market in the 300,000 RMB segment, delivering a futuristic mobility experience.
GAC’s Intelligent Driving Strategy: L3 Mass Production, L4 Commercialization Accelerates
On the same day, GAC Group launched the “Xingling Intelligent Mobility” initiative, announcing the upgrade of its smart technology brand ADiGO Smart Driving & Connectivity Ecosystem to version 6.0 with the official Chinese name “Xingling Intelligent Mobility.” The company’s ADiGO PILOT system has also been rebranded to ADiGO GSD (GAC Self-Driving), further enhancing its high-level autonomous driving capabilities.
GAC has set clear production targets: China’s first L3 autonomous passenger car is set for mass production in Q4 2025, with a scaled rollout of L3 models in 2026. In the L4 sector, GAC’s collaboration with DiDi Autonomous Driving will see the release of its first pre-installed, mass-produced driverless vehicle, scheduled for delivery within the year. Commercial operations are expected to begin in early 2026, forming a closed-loop ecosystem integrating AI, manufacturing, and operations.
Three-Brand Strategy: Intelligent Driving as a Standard Feature
GAC’s self-owned brands are now differentiated based on intelligent driving capabilities:
- Hyper is positioned as a leader in smart driving, with advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) as a standard feature. Its new models will include urban navigation driving assistance (NDA).
- Trumpchi and Aion are the smart driving enablers, equipping all models with basic intelligent driving features, with mainstream models offering high-level driver assistance systems.
GAC has been actively rolling out Huawei-powered smart vehicles. In September 2024, its concept car “1 Concept” debuted with HarmonyOS Cockpit and Huawei’s QianKun ADS 3.0 autonomous driving system. In March 2025, the new Xiangwang model will be launched, featuring Huawei’s high-end autonomous driving system as a standard feature, further strengthening its market position.
Goal: Enter the Global Top Tier of Smart Driving by 2027
GAC Group has set its phased targets: by 2025, it aims to secure a leading position in China’s intelligent driving sector, and by 2027, it plans to join the global top tier in autonomous driving R&D and product competitiveness. With the launch of Huawang Auto and the continued expansion of its technology ecosystem, GAC is accelerating its efforts to build a comprehensive smart mobility ecosystem, covering L3 to L4 autonomous driving and integrating hardware and software innovations.
