DeepSeek Announces “Open Source Week” to Share 5 Code Repositories with Global Developer Community

On February 21, the DeepSeek team officially announced on social media that they will begin open-sourcing five of their code repositories starting next week. The team described this initiative as “Open Source Week,” and aims to share their research progress transparently with the global developer community.

In the post, the DeepSeek team stated: “We are a small team exploring General Artificial Intelligence (AGI) @deepseek_ai. Starting next week, we will open-source five code repositories and share our modest but sincere progress in a completely transparent manner.”

The DeepSeek team explained that the repositories they are about to open-source are fundamental components of their online services, all of which have been thoroughly documented, deployed, and tested in real-world scenarios. As part of the open-source community, they believe that each piece of shared code will contribute to collective progress and help accelerate the industry.

“The content will be unlocked daily. There are no ivory towers here, only pure garage entrepreneurship spirit and community-driven innovation.”

Earlier, DeepSeek made waves in the industry with the release of their AI model, not only due to its advanced performance and cost-efficiency but also because the model is open-source. This means anyone can freely use the model and modify its underlying code to alter its functionality.
