BYD Unveils Super e-Platform: Ushering in the Kilovolt Era of EVs

On March 17, 2025, BYD held its Super e-Platform Technology Launch and Han L/Tang L Pre-Sale Event, unveiling groundbreaking upgrades in EV powertrain technology. The Super e-Platform introduces a global-first full-domain kilovolt high-voltage architecture, setting new benchmarks in battery efficiency, charging speed, and motor performance.

1. World’s Fastest Peak Charging Speed: 1 Second = 2 km

Supercharging Breakthrough:

  • The Super e-Platform features BYD’s self-developed “Flash-Charge Battery”, engineered to enable ultra-fast ion transfer by reducing internal resistance by 50%.
  • Charging specifications:
  • 1,000A current, 10C charge rate
  • 1 MW peak charging power
  • 5-minute charge delivers 400 km of range
  • Record-breaking speed:
  • The battery achieves 1 second = 2 km of range, marking the fastest peak charging speed in any production vehicle worldwide.

New Milestones in EV Charging Infrastructure:

  • BYD’s self-developed liquid-cooled megawatt fast-charging system delivers a maximum output of 1,360 kW.
  • Plans to establish 4,000+ “Megawatt Flash Charging Stations”, supporting dual-gun charging and intelligent voltage boosting for compatibility with public fast-charging networks.

2. World’s First Mass-Produced 30,000 RPM Electric Motor

  • High-Power Density & Lightweight Design:
  • The 580 kW single-motor system enables ultra-compact, high-performance drivetrain solutions.
  • BYD’s First In-House Automotive-Grade SiC Power Chip:
  • 1,500V voltage level, setting an industry-first milestone in mass production.

3. Han L & Tang L: First Models on the Super e-Platform

BYD opened pre-sales for the first Super e-Platform-based vehicles:

🔹 Han L EV: ¥270,000 – ¥350,000
🔹 Tang L EV: ¥280,000 – ¥360,000
🔹 Han L DM & Tang L DM: Blind reservations open, official launch in April

With the Super e-Platform, BYD is not only pushing EV technology forward but also reshaping the industry’s approach to charging speed, power efficiency, and high-voltage architectures. The launch of the kilovolt era positions BYD as a leader in the next generation of ultra-fast, high-performance EVs.
